A look inside Sarah Renson’s home: an interior where tranquillity and warmth come together

Anyone who knows Sarah Renson from *Mijn Restaurant* on VTM or the cooking channel Njam knows just how passionate she is about her craft. As a pastry chef, entrepreneur and mum to two sons, she leads a busy life filled with creativity, workshops and daily hustle and bustle. That is precisely why her home in Oud-Heverlee has become so important to her.

Surrounded by nature, Sarah has found a place where she can completely unwind. A warm interior featuring natural materials, soft colours and a tranquil atmosphere now forms her safe haven.

In this blog, we’ll take you inside her home to discover how furniture, lighting and atmosphere come together in an interior that perfectly suits her life.

A home surrounded by nature

For Sarah, peace and quiet doesn’t just begin inside, but right outside her home. “The area around my house is incredibly peaceful,” she says. “You don’t hear any cars here, just birds singing in the background.”

You feel that connection with nature immediately when you step inside her home. The interior exudes softness, warmth and simplicity. “I really don’t let the daily rush of my professional life in here.”

Her home is the place where she slows down. Where she recharges her batteries after a busy day at work and where cosiness takes centre stage.

An interior that feels calm

Sarah makes very deliberate choices in her interior design. No cluttered spaces or excessive decoration. “I like beautiful pieces, but not too many. I don’t like houses that are crammed full of stuff.”

This minimalist approach ensures that every piece of furniture and accessory really comes into its own. She deliberately chooses warm materials and soft colours. Wood plays an important role in this. “I love seeing wood. It shouldn’t be too white or too grey either. I love warmth in an interior.” This creates an interior that not only looks stylish, but also brings a sense of calm.

When a piece just feels right

For Sarah, a purchase always starts with a gut feeling. “When I see something and immediately know where it should go in the house, then it’s the right one.”

She doesn’t think twice when she feels that a piece fits perfectly into her interior. “A piece can certainly be a bit more expensive, as long as it fits in with the rest of the interior.” That intuitive way of choosing ensures that her home feels very natural. Everything seems to fall into place effortlessly.

A balance between rustic and modern

What makes Sarah’s interior special is the combination of different styles. The living area exudes warmth and cosiness with a more rustic feel, whilst the kitchen has a slightly more modern vibe. “There was a lot of black in our previous flat. This time, I deliberately wanted to work with lighter colours.”

The wooden beams on the ceiling bring warmth and character to the space and ensure that everything comes together beautifully.
By combining modern elements with natural materials, the result is an interior that feels timeless and inviting.

Lighting that creates atmosphere

As well as furniture, lighting and décor also play an important role in her home. Lighting helps to set the mood of a room. It makes an interior feel softer, warmer and cosier.

At Sarah’s home, the lamps from Atmooz provide that extra sense of calm and cosiness. By combining different light sources, a warm layered effect is created in the room. Particularly when combined with wood and natural materials, this creates an interior that really comes to life.

A first taste of Atmooz

Sarah discovered Atmooz through the Experience Room at Charrell in Geel. “I was greeted with a warm welcome straight away. It’s a huge shop with an incredible amount of choice.” For her, the visit didn’t feel like ordinary shopping, but like a real experience.

“I was completely immersed in different interiors and design pieces. It was a really cool experience to walk around there.” That experience immediately gave her inspiration for her own home.

A hassle-free experience from start to finish

After her visit to the showroom, the online ordering process went very smoothly too. “I then placed my order easily via the website and the delivery went really smoothly.”

What struck her most was the care with which everything was delivered. “All the products were securely packed and looked exactly as they did on the website.”
In her view, it is that trust and quality that make all the difference.

An interior that evolves with life

Just as Sarah herself evolves, so too does her interior. For her, a home doesn’t need to be perfectly finished. It’s allowed to grow, change and remain personal.

By consciously choosing timeless pieces and natural materials, she has created an interior that will remain beautiful for years to come. This makes her home not only cosy, but also sustainable in both feel and appearance.

Small choices that make a big difference

Sarah’s interior design shows that atmosphere often lies in simplicity.

● Warm colours instantly bring a sense of calm to a room.
● Natural materials add softness and character.
● Lighting sets the mood more than you might think.
● Choose a few statement pieces rather than too much decoration.
● Let your interior evolve alongside your life.

By making conscious choices, you create an interior that not only looks beautiful but also feels good.
